Several months ago, we applied to be approved for the Annual Landing Fee multiple visit package for Rottnest Island.
On making the application we were advised that the Rottnest Island Board had discontinued this initiative. At the same time, I learnt that the same offer had been removed from the RACWA aircraft that previously had approval.
There is nothing that can be done for the remainder of this financial year as the current landing fee structure is proclaimed by Regulation and cannot be changed.
The RIA did however indicate that they will be reviewing this decision and may re implement the Annual Landing Fee multiple visit packages for the 2018/19 financial year.
The RIA however has implemented a discounted landing fee structure where an annual payment of a declared number of landings visits will be charged at a rate of $45 per landing discounted from the current $52.50. It’s not a huge saving but every little bit helps I guess.
At the end of the year an audit of landings will see either a credit for unused landings or an invoice for additional landings payable directly to the RIA. Under this arrangement the following applies:
PACWA have decided to enter into an annual payment of landing fees for the remainder of this financial year for FCI.
This will mean that landing fees on Rottnest is reduced to $45 for any pilot hiring FCI.
PACWA will also continue to lobby by way of written submissions and personal approaches to the RIA and the Board to re implement the previous system for the financial year 2018/19 and onward.
